What on earth are you talking about? What Does That Mean?
Have you ever seen these abbreviations on a site and had no idea what they were talking about?
You have to remember that we all start out that way! I didn't have a clue in the beginning! Some were self explanatory but some just simply didn't make any sense!
In this list I tried to cover different variations of the same word that you will see used throughout the coupon community! For the most part everyone uses the same abbreviations but some like to switch them up!
Coupon Lingo:
B1G1 = Buy One Get One Free
B2G1 = Buy Two Get One Free
Blinky = Coupon that a little machine spits out
BOGO = Buy One Get One Free
CAT = Catalina. Virtual Money or Coupons that print off with your receipt from a separate machine
CRT = Cash Register Tape, aka, your receipt
ECB = Extra Care Buck, prints on receipts, and you can use it like Cash at CVS.
FAR = Free After Rebate
FLIP = Food Lion Internet Printable (coupon from their website)
IP = Internet Printable Coupon
IVC = Instant Value Coupon at Walgreens. Found in the weekly sales ad.
MFR = manufacturer
MIR = Mail In Rebate
ManQ = Manufacturer Coupon
ONYO = On Your Next Order
OOP = Out of Pocket. The amount in cash that you spend.
Peelie = Coupon found on the package of a product.
PG = Proctor and Gamble Coupon insert that comes in your local paper.
Q= Coupon
Rain Check = When a store is out of a sale item, get a rain check and you can take advantage of the sale price whenever the item comes back in stock. Rain Checks never expire!!
RP = Redplum. Coupon insert that comes in your local paper.
RR = Register Rewards. Walgreens form of a Catalina
S or SS = Smartsource. Coupon insert that comes in your local paper.
UPC= Bar Code of an Item
WAGS = Short for Walgreens
WYB = When You Buy
WT = Wine Tag. A coupon found around the neck of a wine bottle.
YMMV = Your Manager (or Mileage) May Vary, meaning some managers may or may not let you do something(each store has their own coupon policy)
